Women's Free Classes
Deepen your faith with free Quran and Tajweed classes for sisters!
Alhamdulillah, we run classes at the masjid four days a week.
🔸 Monday (10:00 AM – 11:15 AM): A Qur’an Tafsir class in English, taught by Ustadhah Maryam Jarrar.
🔸 Tuesday & Wednesday (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Tajweed classes following the Hafs an ‘Asim recitation via Ash-Shatibiyah.
These classes cover both theoretical and practical aspects of Tajweed, including the study and application of Tajweed rules, as well as the memorization of selected Qur’an juz’a. We also teach the Noorani Qaida for beginners,and we offer recitation correction , and we provide all these lessons in multiple languages: Arabic, English, Turkish, Somali, and Farsi.
🔸 Thursday (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM): A newly launched full Qur’an memorisation program designed for teachers and students aiming to complete the entire Qur’an.
Teachers & Qualifications:
Our teachers come from diverse backgrounds:
✅ Most of them are native Arabic speakers from Syria, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, and they speak at least two languages.
✅ We also have non-Arab teachers from Turkey, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Pakistan.
✅ All instructors have studied Tajweed in-depth and hold completion certificates in Tajweed studies, which is our primary qualification requirement.
✅ At the end of the academic year we offer certificates to all students who passes the exams and we give them prizes as well .
Cost:
All classes are completely free of charge, as our goal is solely to seek Allah’s pleasure.
Free Sisters’ Tafseer Class in English
🔸 When? Mondays, 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM (during school term time)
🔸 Who? Open to all adult sisters. No prior requirements or fees.
🔸 Instructor: Rosemary Jarrar (Maryam), a revert of over 40 years and former senior lecturer in Arabic and translation at the University of Westminster.
🔸 How to Join? Simply attend in person on the first floor of Wimbledon Masjid, or contact Rosemary at 07751269538 to join online.
🔸 What? A friendly and interactive Tafseer (Qur’an explanation) class in English, based on the interpretation of Ibn Katheer. The class has been running since 1991, providing a relaxed environment where students are encouraged to share their insights.
